Siren® Surfboard Giveaway to Celebrate Unveiling of "Cherry Bomb" and "Colibri" Hand Built Custom Surfboards featuring novel construction technology

San Diego, CA, December 13, 2011

Long-time staples in the retro short-surfboard arena, Siren is proud to offer the Cherry Bomb and Colibri twin fin models for 2012 featuring CS Composites' unique construction technology.  This limited edition run of boards incorporates specialized glass, carbon and organic-fiber "surfacing-veil" components to yield the most impressive strength-to-weight ratio achievable, while preserving a user friendly flex characteristic.  Translation: durable, ultra light weight boards that catch waves easily, surf super fast, and turn on a dime.

Tony Channin, the "C" in CS Composites, explains, "We don't see these construction techniques more widely used because the materials and methods required are expensive and labor intensive to implement.  It's really something to think that a 5'4" board can be just as user friendly as a much larger board.  It's a rare opportunity to participate in a revolutionary technological advancement that impacts that which we are most passionate about: surfing."  Most appreciated by heavy-footed surfers will be the addition of the organic-fiber surfacing veil layer, which helps the foam core of the board adhere to the glass and carbon shell, dramatically improving durability and delamination resistance.

Siren's Cherry Bomb and Colibri twin-fin models were designed from the outset to meld the paddle-ability and wave catching prowess of a longer board with the speedy maneuverability that you can only find in a small form factor.  At sub 6' lengths, the weight, flex and durability factors become even more critical design components.  The best part is that the boards are completely custom built, so performance is tailored and personal.  The Cherry Bomb is your go-to shortboard for shoulder-high and under surf; the Colibri's narrower tail make it the call for bigger surf.  The cherry (Bomb) on the sundae is that this level of durability is unheard of in a non-molded board, but now readily available.

Two versions are available:  The Compositech™ version features a graphical "surfacing-veil" layer that not only looks good but creates a superior bond between the core and the glass composite shell.  The result is minimal weight without sacrificing compressive strength or flex response.  The Compositech CF™ version builds upon the surfacing veil technology and adds a band of carbon fiber sandwiching the rails, resulting in super durability and a skatey, alive feel underfoot.

2005 Womens Longboard World Champion Kristy Murphy attests, "The Compositech Carbon version is my favorite.  I am NOT kind to my boards.  The carbon fiber rails give them a chance -- You can literally beat on the rails without so much as a spider fracture.  It's incredible."
