Seea founder and designer, Amanda Chinchelli, connected with the ocean early on.
Growing up on the island of Ilhabela, Brazil, Amanda played in the surf of the tropics until she was ten, when her family moved back to Italy, their
native country. Reunited with her grandmother, Amanda learned to crochet and sew, and soon developed an
interest in fashion and passion for design, which would serve as the basis for her career.
In her adult life, Amanda eventually made her way Stateside and settled on the West Coast of California, near the ocean and the waves. An avid surfer, Amanda spent as much time in the water as she did looking for a cute suit to
surf in. Frustrated with the available selection, it didn’t take long for Amanda to sew up a few of her own designs.
On her daily paddle-outs and surf trips, compliments and inquires for custom suits began to roll in. Merging her
design experience with her wave-riding hobby, Amanda resolved to bring her creations to the women’s surf wear
market, and so, Seea was born!
“The name Seea comes from my love for the sea,” explains Amanda. “As an Italian, I pronounce the name ‘see-ah’.
It’s a feminine word, with a musicality and beauty to it. We are women… We are the graceful sliders of the Seea.”
Seea seeks to create a cohesive collection through a mix of retro-modern styling and contemporary colors and prints. Cut with waves in mind, each suit from Seea reflects a female surfer’s needs, but can still blow minds on the
beach. The end result is an inspired line of garments that strike the perfect balance between elegance and style.
Seea is proud to be part of the Slow Movement; a holistic approach to design that takes into consideration both the
short and long-term impacts of the manufacturing process. Committed to this cause, Seea suits are a locally
crafted, 100% Californian product. Even small details, like the hangtags, are vintage made and multi-use, printed by
letterpress, and complete with a hair band for your next surf session.
A distinctive brand, Seea is dedicated to the pioneering women who first braved the waves, and for every women who wants a suit that is feminine, fun, and comfortable. Simply put, Seea is a celebration of the style, rhythm, and
grace of women’s surfing, and the magic of riding waves.
