WSSM: Prairie, tell us more about GoingOFFSurf.com and what inspired your unique approach to the traditional surf shop?
PRAIRIE: GoingOffsurf.com is an online surf and skate shop. My boyfriend and I built this company, because we were tired of going to surf shops and not getting the respect we deserved. Most the time it was because I was a girl or we didn't surf "their spot".

The guys working in the shop would say things like, "we have a nice bigboard with flowers on it. Good for small days". Just cause I'm a girl, I can't ride a short board or paddle out on big days? I was tired of giving my hard earned money to guys who didn't want me in the line-up.

WSSM: What areas do you service?
PRAIRIE: GoingOffSurf.com services all of the US, which is one of the best things about being online. But, most of our customers come from the Tri-State area, since we're based out of Central NJ.

WSSM: What do you offer the surfing community?
PRAIRIE: Where to begin with this question. GoingOffSurf.com is not about brand names or hierarchies. We're all about supporting the smaller companies that still put love and passion into their products. All of our boards are handcrafted. . .NO Computer Pop-outs.

Second, we support every kind of surfer, female or male, beginner to experienced. Agro-Surfers not welcome! We offer a free surf lesson and advice with every board bought. We wanted to put the personal relationship back into the surf shop.
