Tara
Does Surfing
by: Tracy Michelle Steele
Walking across the tarmac with my Billabong bag fit snugly
on my back, my eyes squint in the tropical sun as I watch my two
surfboards being loaded onto the 10-seater plane in front of me.
I excitedly board the puddle jumper that will take me south
towards the Osa Peninsula with Tara and the rest of the Girls Gone
Surfing crew.
Tara Angioletti, surf goddess extraordinaire, is the owner of Girls
Gone Surfing— a company specializing in surf trips and lessons
ESPECIALLY for women. She has partnered with Billabong Camps and
created her company as a way to live out her dream of traveling
to exotic locations and riding perfect waves.
The fact that her surf retreats are located in exclusive WARM water
international locations with few or no crowds means unparalleled
“face time” on the waves.
Girls Gone Surfing instructors are with you the entire time in the
water- coaching, encouraging and helping you get the best wave of
the set! The combination of these factors has allowed me to take
my surfing to the next level in a fraction of the time than I could
have done so at my regular spots back home.

Whether you're a first-timer just learning to surf or you've been
surfing for years, Tara and the GGS crew are the surf gurus you've
often dreamed of learning from- and more importantly the type of
people you'd love to hang out with
and share life experiences.
Battling frigid waters, crowded peaks and finicky swells characteristic
of many Nor Cal surf spots, I dreamed of going on a surf trip that
would take me to warm, uncrowded waters.
Making the decision to go on a GGS retreat led to an unreal trip
with a cool group of women in one of the most breathtaking spots
on the planet.
Surfing warm, perfect waves from sunrise to sunset, taking naps
in the hammocks and sharing daily adventures with a group of amazing
women…It was much more than a perfect vacation- it was an
unforgettable
life experience.
In fact, I’ve
already signed up for a spot on the 125 ft yacht to the Maldives
this September! The anticipation of this next trip gives me the
motivation to keep pulling on my wetsuit and plunging into the cold
waters of Northern
California. My advice- book your trip today.
